|1992:
An accident occurs at Black Mesa, causing a Resonance Cascade, or portal storm. The HECU Marine Corp and a top-secret Private Military Organization are sent to Black Mesa to contain the scene. Meanwhile, alien wildlife and other creatures begin to pour out of the portals, causing mass panic.
]An hour afterwards: The HECU turned on the PMC after they were given orders to cover up the incident. The PMC's primary intelligence agents, code-named the 'Black Eagles' escaped, but could not save the scientists of Black Mesa, nor the rest of their comrades.
]Twelve hours later: The HECU overloaded a nuclear reactor at Black Mesa, destroying it and the area round it. Meanwhile, Physicist Gordon Freeman destroyed the Nihilanth, putting an end to the portal storms.
|1994:
The alien wildlife have over-taken most ecosystems. Humanity survived, but its armies and governments are greatly weakened. Most of the HECU disbanded, but some smaller squadrons remained intact or went into hiding. Humanity began to unify, as people of all ethnic origins came together and made shelter in major cities. Vortigaunts, although were accepted into society, were highly discriminated against.
|1994:
An unknown alien source used an inter-dimensional rift device to send millions of armed synthetic alien creatures.
]Thirty-five minutes afterwards: The synthetic soldiers attacked a human settlement in the Middle-East. It was wiped out in only a matter of minutes, and the unified armies of Earth declared war on the synthetics.
]Two hours later: Vortigaunts began to help the human armies, but were only slightly more effective. At this point, Australia, Africa, South-East Asia, Eastern Europe, Eastern South America, and the East Coast of North America are all under the control of the synthetics.
]Four hours later: The final battles of the war are fought, All continents are under the influence of the synthetics, all governments have failed, all of Earth's military has been reduced to less than 15% of what it used to be.
]One hour later: The last battle was fought in Ukraine, near the Ukrainian/Russian border. Humanity was crushed by the synthetics, and Dr. Wallace Breen negotiated a treaty. The surviving populations were rounded up into temporary work camps, and Wallace Breen was crowned Director of Human Affairs. Dr. Breen gave the name 'Universal Union' to the inter-dimensional government, and began conscripting humans into the Universal Union military, which served as the earliest version of their human military.
|1995:
The work camps slowly transformed into cities. Citadels were introduced into large populated areas, such as City 08, City 17, and City 14. For small cities, such as City 45 and City 18, Nexuses were formed, and with that, a new human police force known as the Combine Civil Authority was introduced.
|1998:
The Overwatch Transhuman Arm was created, in which humans were transformed through surgeries and memory replacements into Combine Super-Soldiers. The first order of the OTA was to eradicate all non-essential Conscripts. Although some Conscripts had escaped, most were captured and killed.
|2002:
The OTA was dispatched to City 11 after reports of alleged human military activity. When they arrived, signs of a heavily specialized human military task force were present. One person was found, dead, donning the armor of an HECU officer. The OTA were worried by this, but soon dismiss it after continued inactivity of the supposed task force.
|July 2, 2012:
The Non-Augmented Combine Assassin Training Program Center was formed in City 14. It rounded up twenty women from every city and forced them into the program.
]One week later: Two men donning Conscript armor broke into the Center and escaped with Alexis David, a prime subject for the program. Strangely enough, a black eagle had been spray-painted onto the door to her cell.
|December 26, 2013:
The largest Resistance Movement to date was formed in the Canals of City 45. This movement was notorious for running the first successful underground refugee escape route.
|January 2, 2014:
An inside man inserted into the movement by the CCA was successful in giving enough intel to allow the CCA to make a move. In the largest raid in City 45 history, the CCA successfully destroyed the movement, and killed off most of the members. Jordan Baker, a guide for the refugees in the canals, was seen escaping with a group of four others. They are the only known survivors of the movement.
]February 3, 2014: Jordan was seen in City 18 by an informant talking to a gang known as the 'Fat Nargodians', which was basically a small gang of thieves and drug addicts. After an argument that led to most of the Nargodians being killed or injured, Jordan took control and quickly raised a large group of twenty experienced fighters.
]February 11, 2014: After a vicious turf war with a gang known as the 'Black Spades', Jordan and his remaining men were forced to retreat from City 18. He popped up again around City 45, and met with Demitri Dezachovich, a known arms dealer. There in the canals, he formed a small working government for the refugees he had procured.
]May 21, 2014: The CCA led a raid on the last standing Nargodian safehouse. As Jordan watched his men die, he helped Demitri and three others out into the canals. It is unknown whether or not Jordan was killed, but a strange book was found in their safehouse. It started as a simple journal, but at the last page, a strange symbol is drawn into it, and the words "Welcome to our home." were scrawled under it.
|January 5, 2015:
Demitri, leader of the newly-founded resistance movement known as the Fat Nargodian Fighters, made base on the catwalks of City 18. He grouped together a large militia, and proceeded to move on, to a new city. At Industrial Camp 17, or i-17, Demitri met an unknown man, who owned a small ship. After the Nargodians led an attack on the Nexus, the City Administrator approved of a treaty that allowed the Nargodians to operate freely in the docks area.
]February 4, 2015: A rogue group of violent rebel fighters began to raid CCA shipments and outposts. It is unknown whether or not these rogue fighters are connected to the Nargodians.
]February 23, 2015: Breaking the treaty, the CCA attacked the Nargodians at their ship. Most of the members were rounded up and forced into Off-World Relocation, however, Demitri Dezachovich and Jason Cane were publicly executed by the City Administrator. It is unknown as to what the fate of the surviving Nargodians is, but it looks bleak.
]March 1, 2015: In City 45, another black eagle was found painted onto the D-6 Gate.
]March 12,2015: In the same city, a convoy of six drop-ships containing the last of the Fat Nargodians crashed in the canals. A combined effort between the City 45 CCA and the City 18 CCA is held, and many elite officers of the City 18 CCA are re-located to aid in the search for survivors.
April 29, 2015:
After a month-and-a-half investigation, the CCA are only able to recover two dropships. Three of the dropships were either destroyed on impact, or through combat. The remaining dropship, which contained the leader of the Nargodians and his closest friends, was found empty, with only the dead OTA guards found inside. The CCA are unable to find a solid trail, but it is assumed that they were either escaped, or were killed by the dangers of the Outlands.
October 16, 2015:
A medium-scale gunfight roared through the Slums of City 18. A CCA investigation found that the assailants were donning pre-war US Military garb, however the subjects they were shooting at weren't found. It was concluded that the subjects escaped, and no solid trail could be found. City 18 CCA was kept on alert.
December 26, 2015:
Traces of Nargodian activity are detected in City 45, in the Inner-Canals. An interrogation of their leader, one "Rechnov Dezachovich", led the CCA to believe that they were indeed dealing with the Nargodians, however a rebel-led Antlion attack on the Nexus distracted the CCA, allowing the subject to escape his bindings through unknown means and leave the Nexus through the roof.
January 13, 2016:
Through the co-operation of all Resistance Cells in City 45 and it's outer-regions, the Resistance led a full-scale assault on the entire city, resulting in the complete destruction of the Nexus and it's surrounding buildings. Some of the City 45 CCA and the C45 Civil Administrators are able to escape, along with the citizens. The Resistance are able to escape via truck, and are tracked to City 18, which is coincidentally where the evacuation took most of the populace. City 45 (Or, what's left of it) is left in ruin, and transformed into a war-zone as OTA and Resistance fighters fight over control of the city and its surroundings.
February 2, 2016:
Normal relocation brings the City 18 civilians to i17. More traces of the Nargodian ranks are discovered, along with a new group, confirmed to be the TLA. After several raids are unable to up-root the Resistance members, the CCA begin to block off all access to the underground, even to the SWU workers, hoping to starve them to death.
February 12, 2016:
A large ship is spotted entering port, and an APC is dispatched to sink the ship. By the time the APC reaches the tunnel, the ship has docked and unknown Japanese assailants have prepared a barricade. The APC is quickly destroyed before any of the assailants are able to be killed, and it is then used as a mobile barricade to push deeper into the tunnel. The CCA have a blockade set up ahead, but it is completely destroyed, along with the many CCA/OTA units manning it. As the assailants push up into the city's residential district, the Citizens are urged to evacuate the City. After heavily damaging the Nexus, the CCA resort to shelling the area in order to evacuate the CA and the surviving CCA. The assailants quickly retreat towards the boat, and are able to escape.
Now: It is believed that all Fat Nargodians are dead or captured. Although whispers still remain about possible cells still existing, no clear evidence has been found pointing towards any survivors. Life continues on as per usual in City 18, and a new Relocation Cycle has begun, continually adding new citizens to the city's population.
